Pronunciation: deh-BAH-ree-el

Who She Is

Debariel is a Watcher of the Presence, bound to the element of fire — first among the Eerkodeshoi in their order of inscription. She declares of herself: “I am one who is known in heaven as a Watcher of the Presence of God. And I am fire, and I am called Debariel. Messiah always has need to be in company with me, so that He may speak the words of God.” Her name means “Word of God.”

She is one of many Watchers of the Presence. All the leaders of the Eerkodeshoi “are prominent among the Angels of the Presence in heaven and upon the earth,” and the foremost of them is the Man Who is Worthy: “And we know He is Messiah” (II Achee 5:25).

Repentance and Guardianship

To approach Debariel is to sing a love song and repent of all sins. She is guardian of God’s Fatherhood and agency.

Her Brother, Elisheba

Elisheba, twenty-fourth and last of the High Priests, is brother to Debariel.

The Burning Bush

As Moses drew near the burning bush, he called out: “Debariel here am I.” The voice that answered out of the flames was not Debariel’s. I Achee says “an angel of the Lord spoke to him out of the midst of the flames,” and the Book of Moses calls this speaker “the Angel of the Presence,” who said “I am the God of your fathers” (I Achee 4:35; Moses 8:25–26). A note in the Book of Moses names the Angel of the Presence at the bush as Motsah the Lamb (Moses 8:40).

When the scene was viewed again with the Urim about twenty-five years later, the bush “did not smoke and burn but it shown brightly with a radiant light,” and its leaves moved in the breeze “to give the appearance of a flickering fire” (Moses 8:40).

Present Before Creation

Debariel was present in the heavenly council held in a day before the beginning of creation, and spoke to Achee directly, answering his wonder at how such a thing could be.

Rising in Messiah’s Defense

In the midst of Messiah’s fourth great declaration, Debariel rose up in her might on His behalf, and the kingdom of Semihazah began to burn with fire.
