Definition: The good news of Messiah the Redeemer.
How It Came to Be
Honey was not in Eden until it was defined. Yaatsekawd walked in his dominion, loved the insects he encountered, and defined them in their feelings; the Lord entered into them, and Eden knew the sweetness of honey. Cavah completed it — she caused the bees to love the flowers, and to labor to make an excess of honey out of their love, for the fruit of the tree of life. Honey is the surplus of a love that has been joined together, which is exactly what good tidings are. The honey bee is the bearer of good tidings.
The Food of Eden and of the Covenant
Cavah was eating honeycomb as she watched Anokeesed knead the first kelly bread upon His lap, and honeycomb stands first among the foods of paradise — honeycomb and nuts and berries and fruit of every kind. Achee and Tipharah taught the keeping of bees as part of eating in righteousness upon the land. And when there was no fish, or honey, or prey to eat, the people had to wait on the hand of God to learn which herbs of a strange land were good. Honey is provision one may labor for and still receive.
Butter and Honey Upon Bread
Butter and honey with bread has the definition to know to discern between good and evil, and between clean and unclean — protection joined to good tidings joined to the Lord’s life in all things. Idah fed it to Sarai when she covenanted her away from her father’s idols. Joseph and Messiah carried it to the chained prisoners of the temple mills. It is put into the mouth of the one seated upon the sand painting in the Separation Ceremony, while those with pipes pray on the north side to invoke the Eerkodeshiy to bless with righteous blessings. Honey butter alone is the joy of being whole in your humility.
Honey in the Holy Days
For the Feast of Tranquility the bread of peace is made with milk, honey, and leavening, and the Lord’s own charge is not to withhold the honey to be miserly — that His people may be free from fear and intimidation on the night the Eerkodeshoi issue forth to identify their own. Honey is required element for the Day of Forgiveness, where the women’s intervention against pride is bread and honey. It sweetens the communion of the Joining Ceremony and the corn cake of the Coming of Age.
A Land Flowing with Milk and Honey
Where the land is at peace, milk and honey are in abundance. Their ancestral home was reported to be a land flowing with milk and honey, and the people rejoiced at the news though they slept in the open with little to eat. Yet the Lord told Ezekiel that His people languished in a dry land which was flowing with milk and honey, because they were fed unclean food by priests and prophets who were empty vessels of the Living Water. The provision was never the failure.
Honeycomb
Honeycomb is honey received whole, and it is given as a gift. Grandmother Iona gave Noah a honeycomb along with a bright leaf fallen from a tree of sweet sap, asking him to always be strong in the face of that which is to come, and to keep the sweetness of childhood into his old age. She knew what was coming. She gave him sweetness anyway. And in the day the Holy Great One comes forth with ten million of the Eerkodeshiy, the high hills shall be made low and melt like a honeycomb before the flame.
