Pronunciation: JOH-nuh
His Place Among the High Priests
Jonah is eleventh in the order of the 24 High Priest Communities. He is brother to Springtime. His Watcher is Chadashel, “Renewal of God,” who teaches confidence.
His Name
He was “a goodly lad who tended the sheep of his father… and his name was Jonah, which by interpretation means a dove” (I Achee 5:2).
What He Established
Jonah established that Christ is universal for all mankind. Through this, he allowed Christ to be resurrected — or, more simply said, to be Eternal.
What Jonah Named the Lord
Jonah named Him “The Firstfruits of God in the Resurrection.”
The Lord’s Love for Every Nation
When Jonah declared to the Lord his wish that all men everywhere could know Him and come to repentance, the Lord answered that every man of every nation must in the end die — and that His love is shed abroad for all men, who must come before Him and repent, even as it was with Jonah’s own fathers.
His Mission
Jonah told his father the Lord had shown him that a great city was about to be destroyed by the kings of Assyria, and that he was called to declare repentance to them, that they might yet be saved by the God of Israel. Setting out on his journey, he declared to all the earth that Messiah would be the Firstfruits of God in the resurrection — like the life held within his own small crocus bulb, assured to rise again.
