Pronunciation: mah-LAH-kee-el
Who She Is
Malakiel is mountains, third among the Eerkodeshoi in their order of inscription. Her name means “Reign of God.” God made her when He looked upon His Son’s long-suffering and burden, and desired to make Him a friend, a companion, a support — mighty, strong, and towering above sin and corruption as His Son does. He made mountains to live in solitude, gave Malakiel wisdom to reflect and bear witness of the Son, and gave her a mantle of snow. She helps Him bear “the government that is upon His shoulders,” for she is the very body of the government of God.
What She Teaches
Mountains are quiet and seldom speak, but always stand for Him, determined in support even in the face of blows. The words of the prophets come from mountains — not because they are scripture first, but because they are spoken in support of Him by Malakiel. Mountains teach man to worship God and remind him that he is nothing.
Repentance and Guardianship
Before approaching mountains for advice, one must first repent of the times one was satisfied to let God do His doings alone.
Chief of the Merari
Malakiel is chief of the Merari clan, overseer of the holy Yahad, and the one who gives them authority. She invites man to share the burden of Christ with her, offering the element of Harari as Christ’s emissary and personal envoy.
“How Beautiful on the Mountains”
Quoting Isaiah, the text says of her: “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the herald who proclaims peace… saying to Zion, ‘your God is King.'” The interpretation given is that the mountains are the words of the prophets, prophesying to the mourners of Zion.
Her Place Among the High Priests
Shem — Melchizedek — is brother to Malakiel.
