Pronunciation: SAM-see-el

His Place Among the Fallen Watchers

Fifteenth to Semihazah. His name means “the notched battlement of God.” Bound to the element of arsenic.

What He Was Meant to Be

God gave Samsiel the definition “God will feed you and keep you well” — the same way the little birds are cared for and never need worry, and the sun nourishes all the earth. He could have been the elder of health.

What He Chose Instead

Samsiel rebelled and took on the definition “you must please others to be nourished and kept well,” teaching the world that pleasing others is the most one can expect from life — which is why, as the text notes, doctors don’t teach health, only going along with society. As he fell further, he grew to teach that men must even please the sun to be well, and originated sun worship. He became the father of human sacrifice.

What He Teaches

Samsiel is master of subtle poison and taught the signs of the sun. He is master of the living sacrifice of humans to industry — the leader of subtle destruction where he could have been the elder of health. He is now the enemy of health and master of doctors who mask the language of repentance.
