Pronunciation: TOOR-ee-el
His Place Among the Fallen Watchers
Eighteenth to Semihazah. His name means “Rock of God.” Bound to gold — specifically, gold made into adornments for self-glory.
What He Was Meant to Be
Turiel could have been the elder element reminding man that God governs his life and desires to live with him, holding the definition “the Father desires to live with you as if you are the only person He has ever made.”
What He Chose Instead
Some of his kind chose instead the definition “wealth is power and gives authority to oppress.” Gold made in this way now represents man’s governments — but gold that has not been made this way still holds its original definition and has nothing to do with wealth.
What He Teaches
Turiel teaches the concept of royalty, and is master of kings and rulers. He teaches the taking of taxes and the burden of supporting evil, and teaches living on the labors of others. He is master of money, trade, and commerce, and the enemy of community and oneness. Turiel is lord of big, sinful, ugly cities, and rejoices in the sin, fear, and cries the night brings.
